Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed Martial Arts is a full-contact combat sport that allows both striking and grappling techniques from multiple martial arts. The term “Mixed Martial Arts” was first used by a television critic to describe the very first Ultimate Fighting Championship match (UFC 1), which was originally intended to be a competition to find out what the most effective single martial arts style for unarmed combat was.  As the sport and the show became more mainstream, the rules changed and now most practitioners use a variety of styles at once, the most popular being Boxing, Muay Thai/Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Wrestling.
